The following are the official rules and guidelines for the BSGL.
1 - FORMAT
1.1 - The BSGL plays in a ten team, nine-week, double round-robin format. This means that ten teams will be playing throughout the entire nine week season and each team will play the other nine twice.
1.2 - Every team in the BGSL will have one match on the blue side and one match on the red side against every other team throughout the season.
1.3 - Two matches are played every week, one on Saturday, and one on Sunday.
1.4 - The first game of every Saturday and Sunday will begin at 2 PM EST.
1.5 - To get into the BGSL, teams must apply before the upcoming season application deadline. Read more about applications below in section two.
1.6 - Eligible teams will consist of players from Bronze V through Gold I (unless a player ranked higher was eligible at the start of the season, see 7.4).
2 - APPLICATIONS
2.1 - To register for the upcoming season, sign your team up on the BSGL Discord under the "#qualification_tournament_sign_up" thread. Note, this does not guarantee you a spot in the upcoming season or qualification tournament, however, we will try our best to make room for everyone in the qualification tournament.
2.2 - After an application has been accepted, you will proceed into the qualification tournament where you will fight for a spot in the upcoming season (See 3.1)
2.3 - If your application is denied, that means the tournament has been filled and closed, as it is a first come, first serve basis.
2.4 - When applying, be sure to include a team name, team logo, all registering players, all team staff and whatever other information you would like to include. The more detail you add, the more appealing your entry will be.
2.5 - Teams are allowed up to nine members when registering.
3 - QUALIFICATION & RELEGATION
3.1 - Before each new season there will be a large qualification tournament that takes place with a double elimination format (size of the tournament is subject to change based on popularity).
3.2 - At the end of the season, the teams that finished in 9th and 10th place will be placed in the upcoming season's qualification tournament to fight for a spot back into the BSGL.
3.2 - 1: The 9th and 10th place teams will receive first-round byes in the promotional tournament if applicable.
3.3 - All seeding in the qualification tournament will be randomized live on the BSGL Twitch stream.
3.4 - Teams may not make roster changes during the qualification tournament. The initially submitted five to nine man roster is the only one that can be used.
3.5 - The top two teams from the qualification tournament will be accepted into the next season of the BSGL, where they will then have to pay their entry fee (see 5.1).
3.5 - 1: If teams from the secure pool of eight from the previous season drop out before the next season begins, we will accept more teams from the qualification tournament until there are a total of ten BSGL teams for the upcoming season (i.e. if one team drops out from the eight who already had a spot locked up for the upcoming season, we will then take the top three teams from the qualification tournament for a grand total of ten BSGL squads).
4 - PLAYOFFS/TIE-BREAKERS
4.1 - At the end of the season, the top six teams will compete in a mini-tournament to decide the champion.
4.2 - Tiebreakers are decided first by head-to-head record and then followed by a tie-breaker game if needed.
4.2 - 1: In the case of a tie between more than two teams, teams will be ordered according to their overall records against the other tied teams. So in the case of a three-way tie, a team who is (3-1) against the two other tied teams would be ahead of the other two teams in the standings because their four-game record would be better.
4.3 - The first round of the playoffs and the semifinals will be in a Best of Three format for each series. The grand finals, however, will be a Best of Five series to determine the champion.
4.4 - In all playoff games the higher seed with have side priority in the first game of the series, and the lower seed will take the opposite side of the rift. Each new game of the series, side priority will flip-flop (i.e. If the #1 seed choose blue side during game one, the #3 seed would play on red side. However, the #3 seed would get to choose either blue or red side in game two.).
5 - PRIZING
5.1 - The prizing will be funded through the teams who enter the league, as well as any supportive individuals who donate towards the league's prize pool over the course of the season. Once teams qualify for the league, they will be required to submit a $20 entry fee to Leglt, starting the prize pool at a solid total of $200, by the start of Week One.
5.1 - 1: Donating to the BSGL Paypal is completely optional. We appreciate any and all donations! 100% of the money donated towards the league will be handed out as prizes to those teams who perform at a high level in the playoffs and finish with a top-tier placing.
6 - GAME DAY
6.1 - If your team is unable to compete, please let Leglt know so that the match will be forfeited.
6.2 - Each team is permitted five minutes of pause time during matches. This can be used as a tactical timeout or as a time to fix any technical issues. Pausing for longer than five minutes will result in a loss of 1 ban in that team's next match for each extra minute that passes during the pause. If the issue is not on either team, but rather BSGL production, the pause time will not count towards a team's total pause time for that match.
6.2 - 1: A pause outside of the permitted five minutes can only be held under the case of a disconnection. Using additional pause time is not permitted under any other circumstances.
6.2 - 2: An additional pause taken with no disconnection will result in the penalty of 1 ban lost in the next game for the team who initiated the pause. Abuse of the pause system may result in a forfeited match.
6.2 - 3: A pause can not be taken at the climax of a team-fight. Any pause taken during an important fight will result in a loss of all three bans in the next game for the team that initiated the pause (judgement on the pause's timing is held by Leglt).
6.2 - 4: A ready check must be completed by all players before resuming the game.
6.3 - Any BM all chat is not allowed during the games, and if found, the game will be forfeited immediately. BM all chat will result in a loss of all bans during your team's next match.
6.4 - In the event that your team is unable to field five members from the listed roster on the website, your team must forfeit.
6.5 - In the event that you don't have five members from the listed roster on the website in the game lobby by 15 minutes after the initial 10 minute break on stream, your team forfeits the match.
6.6 - If your team must put in a substitute from the listed roster on the website, you will lose one ban if they were not in the initial submitted starting roster on Discord (see 7.2).
6.6 - 1: If your team must put in more than one substitute from the listed roster on the website, you will lose two bans for two subs, or all three bans for more than two.
6.7 - If your team swaps two roles (i.e. mid and jungle swap positions), that will cost 1 ban.
6.8 - If you lose greater than six bans in one weekend, the remaining lost bans will carry over to your next matches.
6.9 - No spectators are allowed other than the casters or permitted BSGL staff. If you have a coach, they can watch the stream and communicate with you through a 3rd party application, but they cannot spectate the game through the LoL client. It is hard enough as it is to get the casters and teams in the lobby and in order, so we don't want anyone else interfering.
7 - TEAM ROSTERS
7.1 - A maximum of nine members are allowed on an active team roster at one time.
7.2 - The starting roster for Saturday and Sunday's matches must be posted on the "#lineup_submissions" Discord thread by Friday at 11:59 PM EST before that weekend's matches start.
7.2 - 1: The roster submissions must include the name of the five starters for each day and what role they will be playing. You may also list one substitute player from your website roster as a sixth-man in case of emergencies (no penalties will be issued for utilization of the sixth-man as long as you listed them on the submission).
7.2 - 2: The rosters submitted do not need to be the same for both Saturday and Sunday. Feel free to utilize bench players from your team's website roster in order to field a five-man squad, or just try out a new lineup.
7.3 - Teams are allowed to drop and add players as needed, but this must be communicated to Leglt through the "#roster_transactions" Discord thread.
7.3 - 1: Roster changes can be made on the weekends, however, a player who is added to a roster cannot play a game for that team on the day he/she was added. For example, a player added on Saturday can't play a BSGL game on Saturday, but that player is eligible to play on Sunday at the cost of one team ban.
7.3 - 2: Players may not be on two rosters at once. In order for a player to switch from one team to another, their old team manager must drop them on the "#roster_transactions" Discord thread to free agency. The new team manager may then add the player to his/her roster via the "#roster_transactions" Discord thread.
7.4 - If a player reaches Platinum while the season is in progress, they are still allowed to compete until the end of the season as long as they have participated in at least four BSGL match prior to reaching Platinum.
7.4 - 1: A team can have no more than two Platinum players on their roster at any given time during the season.
7.4 - 2: If a player reaches Diamond they will no longer be eligible to play in the BSGL.
7.4 - 3: If a player has ever been Platinum or higher in previous seasons, they are ineligible to play in the BSGL.
7.5 - The submitted team roster can only consist of members on the team's active website roster (this can include subs). To submit with another player, you must add them to your team before submitting your team roster for the week. See 7.3 - 1.
7.6 - Teams are allowed to have coaches and analysts of any rank. Any staff members can be added to the team's website page per request on the "#website" Discord thread.
7.7 - Only the team manager and organization owner is allowed to make roster changes and it must be through the Discord.
7.8 - If the BSGL staff determines a player to be smurfing, that player will be immediately removed from their current roster and banned from the league. The BSGL staff will make all smurf determination decisions as a group. All decisions are final, however, we will always give the teams and players involved a chance to explain the situation and repeal. NOTE: We choose to do this because we believe all members of the community should have a say in these matters, and the BSGL staff is comprised of humans like yourselves, so we can definitely make mistakes. This is a time to display the facts to us, not to argue, fuss or become toxic towards others. Toxicity towards staff members in these situations will likely result in permanent league suspension.
7.8 - 1: Any past victories earned with a determined smurf in play will be forfeited over to the opposing teams. Smurfing is not allowed under any circumstances. If you are teaming with a group of players whom you don't personally know, the BSGL staff suggests that you do extensive research on each member before entering the league. This is not negotiable.
8 - RE-BRANDING & TEAM DISBANDMENT
8.1 - When a team manager drops from the league mid-season, the remaining players have 48 hours to claim the team, after 48 hours the team will be replaced with the next team on the waiting list. If a player wants to claim the team they must take responsibility and contact Leglt before the 48-hour period expires.
8.1 - 1: If a team roster splits mid-season, and two players try to claim the same team, it will be priority of first-come-first-serve (barring the original owner of the league spot is out of the picture of course). An additional $10 fee will be required to activate the vacancy.
8.2 - Teams who take the place of dropped out teams will obtain the winning record left behind by the team who dropped out.
8.3 - Teams who join the league late in the season due to other teams dropping out can only play in the BSGL playoffs if they have played in at least six regular season matches.
8.4 - Teams will not be allowed to re-brand once the season has begun. If your team wishes to re-brand, the information must submitted during the off-season before the brand deadline occurs (one week before the premiere of the first game of Week One).
8.4 - 1: If nobody claims a team who drops from the league mid-season, and a team from the waiting list is used to replace the former team, the new team has the right to compete under their own brand and not under the brand of the team who dropped out.
MISC.
If there is an issue that is not covered in these rules, it will be addressed at the time!
Should any smurfs be detected or found out in the league, appropriate action will be taken (see section 7.8).
Managers are required to be active on Discord!
